Come celebrate the Winter 2019 issue of The Opening Statement with MAPS and friends! Featuring a screening of The Prison in Twelve Landscapes by Brett Story.

The Opening Statement is a quarterly newsletter written for and primarily by incarcerated folks in the Michigan state prison system. Published by MAPS and distributed to approximately 100 subscribers in Michigan prisons, the newsletter seeks to undermine the isolating death sentences imposed on our communities inside and outside of prison walls. Overall, the newsletter sharpens the critical and analytical tools necessary to begin the process of abolition.
